With all of this heat and humidity we've been having lately, it's important to remember to pamper your skin.
When the weather is humid it means that there is a lot of moisture in the air. That causes the pores of the skin to open and makes them susceptible to gathering dirt, oil, and allergens. Too much humidity can cause problems like acne, skin breakouts, eczema and allergic reactions that show up on the skin.
Another culprit for causing skin issues is chlorine, used in a lot of household cleaning products as well as in swimming pools because its main function is to disinfect water. Some swimmers find that chlorine can lead to dry, flaky skin – particularly if they already have eczema or other dry skin complications. But the chlorine used to keep out harmful bacteria from the pool water can also strip your hair and skin of its natural oils. This can cause dry skin and brittle hair.
While it would be nice to sit in the air conditioning all day during the times it's so hot and humid I'm just not able to do that. I still have to get outside and mow the lawn, do yard work, tend to the garden and run errands.
So here are a few of my tips to help you make sure you're taking care of and/or pampering your skin:
1. Use the all-natural skincare products from FT Styles so when the humidity causes your pores to open at least you know nothing harmful is getting into your pores.
2. Make sure to wash your face during your evening routine even if you didn't put on any products or makeup - Use the Perfect 10 OilCleanser because it will clean your face and give you a little extra moisture from the oil.
3. Use the Detoxifying Charcoal Face Mask one or two more days per week than you normally do.
4. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize - if you aren't able to do this in the morning because you know your just going to be outside and the humidity is going to wash it all off your face then please do it before you go to bed. This will give your skin it's resting time and it will soak up the moisture it needs from your product. I use the RegenerativeMoisturizer during the summer but if I've had a few days where my skin has taken a beating in the heat, humidity or in my chlorine pool I will use my Detox Nightwear Cream.
